Hey, What Happened to that “Landmark” Resolution??

On October 31, 2000 the United Nations Security Council adopted resolution 1325 which “reaffirms the important role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflicts, peace negotiations, peace-building, peacekeeping, humanitarian response and in post-conflict reconstruction and stresses the importance of their equal participation and full involvement in all efforts for the maintenance and promotion of peace and security.”  That was over 14 years ago.   Not much has changed.  Its still almost exclusively men getting us into conflicts and then trying to negotiate us out of them.  Women – we need to take our rightful place in how this world is run.  One small thing you can do today is to sign a petition for a 5th UN World Conference on Women here:  http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/5wcw/sign.html
